Vintage 2022 concludes with grape prices, crops down

Pressure is mounting on Australian grape growers and wineries following a below average season with grape prices falling and an unsustainable production of certain red wine grape varietals emerging, as outlined in the latest Wine Insights report.

The Australian wine industry continues to grapple with the now defunct China export market. While not all producers were directly impacted, gradually the whole Australian industry is coming under pressure due to a myriad of factors, including: decreased consumption internationally; increased input costs to vineyards; COVID-19 causing labour shortages; supply chain and logistics disruptions; and increased cost of dry-goods.
