Australian retail sales surge off the back of EOFY sale events

Despite a lift in household savings in the first quarter of the year, families have sought to tighten their belts further to ensure they’re getting the biggest bang for their buck, writes KPMG Chief Economist Brendan Rynne.

Australian retail sales rose 1.2 percent in June, following a rise of just 0.5 percent in May, according to figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
