Australia-United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement to commence

This proliferation in trade agreements presents business with significant opportunity, however optimising trade agreement use can be complex, writes Daniel Rae.

Following Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s announcement on this historic trade deal, Australia’s 18th Free Trade Agreement is expected to enter into force on 31 May 2023. The Australia-United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (“A-UKFTA”) is a ‘gold standard’ agreement covering the two-way trade in goods and services, and includes commitments on the environment and labour, which will facilitate the movement of qualified professionals between the two countries.
