KPMG submission: Strengthening the foreign resident CGT regime KPMG has prepared a submission in response to the ‘Strengthening the foreign resident capital gains tax regime’ draft legislation released by Treasury on 10 April 2026. We are supportive of the Federal Government's aim to improve the certainty of, and address inconsistent outcomes in, the foreign resident capital gains tax (CGT) rules. We acknowledge the need to clarify the foreign resident CGT rules on a prospective basis, consistent with previous Government announcements and consultations.
