Hiring a working holiday maker?

The ATO has set out a three-step procedure that should be followed by employers when they hire a working holiday maker.

According to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), approximately 100,000 working holiday makers are employed in Australia each year. If an individual ticks the box at question 8 of the “Tax file number declaration” form to declare that they are a working holiday maker, there are a number of obligations imposed on the employer that need to be followed to ensure they do not fall foul of the law.
